S.D.O. Installation ceremony meets with total Ghost Town in a head-on Collision

The population of Lebialem yesterday boycotted the Installation ceremony of a newly appointed S.D.O. for Lebialem Division in Menji; this to the embarrassment of the Governor of the South West Region Bernard Okalia Bilai who came in person to install the newly appointed administrator. The installation ceremony was delayed due to the partial destruction of the Grand Stand earlier yesterday night by men of the underworld who used a locally fabricated bomb to explode the structure.

Reports say that only 16 members of a traditional dance group hailing from the village of origin of the newly appointed official were present at the installation ceremony alongside dignitaries.

Locals of Lebialem have rubbished the installation ceremony saying enough is enough; that they have been neglected by the Cameroon Government as though they were not part of Cameroon. Bad roads and lack of basic facilities were at the helm of the boycott according to inhabitants. It is worth noting here that earlier on his journey to Menji the Governor’s car got stuck in the muddy trenches that lead to the Lebialem Capital. His vehicle had to be pulled out of the mud by another vehicle.

The Governor in his speech condemned the attitude of the inhabitants of the locality and mentioned in his speech the following: “although some people thought that the installation will not take place, I am here and the installation must take place.

Today the Governor is expected to preside over the Installation Ceremony of the Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Manenguba.
