Sources from the Ministry of Defense reveal that the Jakiri member of Parliament has been put under surveillance after the death of a gendarme officer in Jakiri.
Since the death of Djolay, a gendarme officer who was sent to maintain security in Jakiri, the atmosphere in that locality has not been the same. There has been uneasy calm everywhere. Nobody wants to go out, even though there is no curfew.
Armed men have flooded in their numbers into Jakiri and are said to have been spying on residences of some top personalities in that area among which is Joseph Wirba’s home.
Young men are said to have fled the town due to the harsh treatment the military have been giving them.
