Cameroon-Northwest-Ndu:Exchange of blows in land dispute

The allocation of land for the construction of a health centre in Mbongong, Ndu turned ugly on Wednesday December 6, as the exercise ended in clashes between the Wimbum population of Mbongong and the Fulani, who claimed the land is their grazing land.

It all turned sour when the assistant senior divisional officer for Donga Mantung, assistant divisional officer for Ndu and worst the Fon of Mbipgo were attacked and beaten by the Fulani population when the demarcation exercise was on going. This angered the rest of the population who went on rampage, fighting the Fulanis. In the process, a house belonging to one of the Fulani graziers was reduced to ashes. Security forces descended on the ground and calmed things down. So far there has been no loss of human lives but on the spot report says there are injuries on both sides.

Its worth noting that construction of the health centre was supposed to have been executed years ago, but for the tug of war for where it should be built.
