After the "War Council" meeting last Friday, Biya appointed Gen Daniel Elokobi, a son of the soil from Manyu, to lead his anti-Anglophone jihad. Gen Elokobi is expected to restore peace in his troubled Manyu Division where six soldiers were killed amid the escalating Anglophone crisis.
It is worth noting that when the security situation in Southern Sudan degenerated, the Khartoum gov't despatched Gen John Garang, who hailed from Southern Sudan to go and quell the rebellion. Khartoum later learnt to its own chagrin that John Garang had become the leader of the Sudan's Peoples Liberation Army. Are there any parallels here?
