The arrest of the former indomitable lion and gold medalist at the Sidney Olympics 2000, Serge Branco has attracted a lot of criticism from football lovers. The 1989 classmate of Samuel Eto’o Fils at Ecole de Foot Bepanda was arrested on Monday 10 April 2017 on the ground floor of Equinox TV as he was going as special guest to their regular football program 100% Foot.

According to eye witnesses, he was manhandled by the forces of law and order who were hiding somewhere around the vicinity in plain clothes.

“I was there when they were dragging him away forcefully to Bonanjo Judicial Police station. The police dragged him around like a dog. It was an unsightly situation” says an angry eye witness.

An onlooker says Cameroon as a whole should learn to respect those who have brought glory to the nation.

“I think Serge Branco deserves some respect even from the police, or whoever wants him behind bars. The procedures of arrest have to be properly followed and not disgracing heroes like this” a furious Onlooker says.

However, reports have it that the former lion, who is also the manager of Bamboutous football club of Mbouda had not been served a convocation from the Police prior to his capture.

Although the motive of arrest was reveal later as corruption and embezzlement of Bamboutous football club properties, many have strongly condemned the shameful manner in which he was arrested.
