Cameroon: Six perish in a road accident on the Douala-Edea tattered highway

Six people are reported dead in an accident along the Douala-Edea highway.

The incident occurred when a transport bus from Touristique Express collided with a private car on Thursday night.

It happened at a place called Decharge Alucam, about 7km from Edea.

The collision set the private car ablaze with six persons on board.

The intervention of the fire brigade and the gendarmerie came too late to save the people from the fire.

Several injuries are reported in the bus.

The bus was travelling from Douala to Yaoundé.

Official sources at the scene say it happened when the bus tried to avoid a broken-down truck, parked on the road without any indicators.

The SDO for Sanaga Maritime has opened an investigation into the tragedy.
