Douala: DO destroys over 50 shops at New Deido market

Over 50 shops have been destroyed at the New Deido market by the Divisional officer for the Doula 1 council.

Jean Marie Tchakui, the Divisional officer, said the work is meant to free the path leading into the market as CRTV recounts.

The market had become a centre of disorder as reports have it. It is for this reason that the Senior Divisional Officer of that area, authorised the DO to carry out the task of destroying some of the shops.

The business men and women in the market say that to pay for space right in the market is expensive and above them. They explain that outside they pay just 100FRS per person everyday.

"One has to pay 30000frs monthly for a shop in the market. that is so expensive" one of the disgruntled traders said
