Cameroon: Biya left with four jokers before departure

Paul Biya, you have four cards left in hand. They are not going to help you stay in power for life. Instead, they will slow down your demise and probably avoid chaos. Now all depends on how you use them, given that you can lose a game of "jambo" even  with three 10.

  1. VISIT BAMENDA AND BUEA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

This will comfort your grassroots Francophones and also guarantee your support from Anglophones. Besides it being symbolic, it will also reiterate the unity of the nation.

  1. MINISTERIAL AND POLITICAL SHAKEUP

The problems we are facing today  are also those of a rich elite feeding on state funds, concentrated more on embezzlement and accumulation than the development of this country. Government must reinforce the status of Anglophones. It is unacceptable that out of 36 ministries, only one with real portfolio is given to Anglophones. Looters of state funds must be prosecuted.

  1. INSTITUTIONAL CLEAN-UP

There's need for immediate decentralization that will eventually lead to federation. The centralized state has enabled some persons to enjoy the fruit of other people's labour and become rich to the detriment of the masses.

  1. CLARIFY THE ELECTORAL CALENDAR AND CLEARLY ENVISAGE YOUR DEPARTURE IN 2018

This will prepare the next course of action and equally assure the national and international communities.

But actually, all these cards will not make the Party win easily. However, they may help you continue the game for a while and help us avoid  collapsing. In fact, the Anglophone Crisis is a glaring sign that your 35-year stay at the head of this nation has failed. You have got to learn to abandon certain things before they abandon you.
