MP's of Cameroon's main opposition party, SDF boycott parliamentary session

The main opposition party of Cameroon, the Social Democratic Front, has boycotted the opening ceremony of the November ordinary session of parliament.

The lawmakers believe that government is not doing anything to solve the ongoing crisis in Southern Cameroons.

While the ceremony was going on, SDF parliamentarians reportedly gathered at their regional headquarters at Olezoa in Yaoundé.

"All the members of the National Assembly and senators [ of SDF] have gathered here at the backdrop of the troubling situation in our country.

" The crisis in the North West and South West persists yet government has done nothing to find a solution [to it].

"We believe that it's high time parliamentarians handled their responsibility in conformity with Article 4 of the constitution[...].

"We need to have a happy way-out of the crisis," the secretary of SDF is quoted as saying by Cameroon-Info.Net.
