The population of Kumba, July 4, watched in amazement as a mysterious inferno, guts the frontal part of the Kumba III Divisional Officer’s Office, Gilbert Baldena Gubai.
According to eye witness accounts, the incident happened in the early hours of the day.
The population of Kumba is already extrapolating that with the recurrent land crisis in the Division; sadists could go at any length to inflict pain on the population.
According to a source who spoke to this reporter, it only took the intervention of the Army Rescue Unit to contain the fire for completely razing the building.
After the fire was contained, a carpenter was immediately contracted to repair the damaged roof.
The building, which is currently serving as the DO’s office is a private property of an individual, which the State is presently renting for the administrator.
Decorations and other internal furniture of the building are still to be completed.
Despite the outbreak of the inferno, no document at the DO’s office was destroyed in the process.
Meanwhile, a TOYOTA Hilux vehicle, belonging to the Army Rescue Unit, was reportedly set on fire by yet to be indentified individuals.
The fire is reported to have been brought under control before it could engulf the vehicle.
These mishaps add to a plethora of others that has happened since the outbreak of the Anglophone Crisis.
