Bamenda, Cameroon (March 12, 2024) - In a shocking turn of events today, an unidentified truck driver was shot and killed by suspected Ambazonian fighters, known locally as "Amba boys," near the Fishpond Market in Bamenda. The incident occurred around 4:00 PM this afternoon.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to Star TV, the assailants were traveling on a motorbike when they opened fire on the truck carrying Brasseries products. The driver, who lost control of the vehicle after being shot, tragically collided with a young man, who also died in the accident.
"The boys were on a bike and shot at the windscreen while the driver was entering the food market," recounted a shaken eyewitness. "We only saw him lose control and crash into a shop, then swerve back onto the road before stopping at a taxi. The taxi driver was lucky to escape."
The driver of the truck succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The identities of the separatist fighters remain unknown.
This incident highlights the ongoing tensions in Cameroon's North-West Region, where violence between Ambazonian separatists and government forces has plagued the area for several years. The attack has left the local community reeling, with two lives tragically lost.
