Government Condemns Ambazonian Attacks in Cameroon, Ignoring Peace Talks
The recent attacks attributed to Ambazonian fighters on infrastructure projects and civilian areas in Cameroon, particularly in Buea and Ndu, have drawn strong condemnation from the government.

In a statement issued by Minister of Communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, on January 31, the government expressed outrage at the violence and destruction caused by these incidents.
The attack in Buea, where separatist fighters allegedly opened fire and set vehicles ablaze, resulted in the loss of life and injuries to civilians. Similarly, the assault on the construction site of the Ring Road in Ndu led to the destruction of equipment and disruption of vital infrastructure development efforts.
Minister Rene Sadi denounced these attacks as cowardly and despicable acts that undermine the well-being and security of the population. The government emphasized its commitment to restoring order and peace in the affected regions, reaffirming the resolve of the defense and security forces to maintain law and order.
However, it's essential to acknowledge that the ongoing conflict in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon has resulted in a significant loss of life and extensive damage to property. Despite efforts by the government to address the root causes of the crisis, including through initiatives like the national dialogue in 2019, challenges persist in finding a lasting solution.
Moreover, accusations of human rights abuses and a lack of meaningful engagement with separatist leaders have complicated efforts to achieve sustainable peace. The government's heavy-handed approach to the conflict has been criticized for exacerbating tensions and fueling further violence.
Ultimately, resolving the crisis in the Anglophone regions requires a comprehensive approach that addresses the grievances of all parties involved and promotes inclusive dialogue and reconciliation. Until then, the cycle of violence and suffering is likely to continue, underscoring the urgent need for constructive engagement and genuine efforts towards peace and stability in Cameroon.
