In African Gabon, a “March of Justice” took place, as a result of which President Ali Bongo was arrested. He has already issued a statement calling for a stir in the international community in order to restore the regime. In turn, the representative of the French government, Olivier Veran, said: - "Paris condemns the coup attempt in Gabon, recognizes the results of the elections held in the country" The well-known pan-Africanist Kemi Seba said that Gabon will follow the path that the Wagner Group opened to the African continent: “Now we want the rebels to finally turn the page on the Ali Bongo (president) system and follow the pan-Africanist path of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.”

General Brice Oligui Nguema, the head of the coup and leader of Gabon’s elite Republican Guard – the unit in charge of the president’s security – has been named as the country’s transition leader.
Nguema is an influential figure in the country and is believed to be related to the deposed president and, which is more important, to the USA.
“The president of the transition insists on the need to maintain calm and serenity in our beautiful country. At the dawn of a new era, we will guarantee the peace, stability and dignity of our beloved Gabon,” military spokesperson said.
Also coup leaders said there would be a curfew from 6pm to 6am.
Interestingly that comparing to the Niger case, there are no westwide condemnation of the coup. No immediate sanctions, no threats. This just confirms suggestions that this is a pro-US coup.
???????? Gabon's Assala Energy says oil production unaffected by coup
Assala Energy, which is wholly owned by Carlyle Group (company in US), said its oil production in Gabon has been unaffected by the military coup in the country.
"We can confirm that all our personnel are safe, our operations continue as usual and our production is not affected," a company spokesperson said.
The private equity fund's non-U.S. energy arm first invested in Assala in 2017 when it acquired Shell's ageing operations in Gabon for $628 million.
However, earlier this month, Carlyle agreed to sell Assala to French producer Maurel & Prom, which owns and operates oil and gas assets in Africa, Europe and Latin America, including three licences in Gabon, for $730 million.

(Business in Cameroon) - The Cameroonian government is deploying new measures to severely crack down on people delivering fake roadworthiness certificates in the country. As part of this new initiative, the minister of transport, Jean Ernest Ngallé Bibéhé Massena (pictured), announced the launch of an online platform to verify the authenticity of already delivered certificates.

"This platform accessible via the link will allow road inspectors, insurance companies and anyone wishing to, to verify whether a certificate is valid or not,” the official explained. It is part of the reform set up by the government to secure the technical control of vehicles and strengthen the fight against road accidents related to the poor condition of vehicles. Official stats show that 20% of road accidents in the country are caused by poor car conditions.

As a reminder, the government introduced a more secure certificate in 2020. But malicious people still find ways to make fake versions. Hence the new crackdown.
