Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

At the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Muhammadu BUHARI, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Paul Biya, President of the Republic of Cameroon, will pay a state visit to Nigeria on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday, May 4, 2016, with His Wife, madame Chantal Biya according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.

This visit comes 10 months after President Muhammadu Buhari was in Cameroon on a working visit (from 29 to 30 July 2015 in Yaoundé) to discuss ways for both countries to jointly fight the Boko Haram insurgents

The State visit of the Cameroonian President will be its seventh ever since Biya came to power in 1982.The visit will have as its top agenda strategies to defeat the remaining rampnants of Boko Haram militants also discuss other issues that will boost the two countries ‘brotherly relationship’.

Relations between Cameroon and its Economic giant neighbors has gone through many upheavals, such as the dispute over the Bakassi peninsula which was recognized Internationally as a territory of Cameroon after a long legal battle. However, the two countries have begun to normalize relations in many areas of interest.

Nigeria buys 14.4% of Cameron’s export, according to the 2012 financial year report on the economic situation of the country. On the other hand 22.6% of the Cameroon’s imports come from Nigeria
