Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Cameroon is poised at hosting its biggest peaceful strike action today, Monday.November 2016. About 8 million English-speaking citizens including 4 million internet users would be decrying more than 50 years of gross marginalization by unfavorable policies of the two French-speaking presidents who have ruled the nation since 1961.

Currently, the West African nation hosts the Women's African Cup of Nations amid a very unwelcoming atmosphere in all the English-speaking regions.

Most key positions and top schools in the country are reserved only for french-speaking citizens. Although the country has two official languages -- French and English, none of its leaders have ever publicly addressed the nation solely in English, giving a sense of non-belonging to the nearly 10 million marginalized citizens.

The English-speaking citizens are identifying themselves along the marginalization divide alone, and not by political, religious and cultural affiliations. The social media is their biggest rallying platform in the information war.
