Cameroon: President Biya honors Commander John Peter Scudi of the US army
The outgoing Defence Attaché at the United States Embassy in Cameroon has been honoured with the State distinction of Knight of Order of Valour. Commander John Peter Scudi of the US Navy was decorated yesterday January 26, 2016 in Yaounde by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo on behalf of the Head of State, in the presence of the US Ambassador to Cameroon, Michael Stephen Hoza as well as top military officials.
During the solemn but brief ceremony, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence hailed the bilateral defence cooperation between Cameroon and the United States of America which he described as exemplary, rich and fruitful. The cooperation experiences a significant boost during Commander Scudi’s sojourn in Cameroon citing several achievements of the US Navy officer. “Following the decree No. 2016/035 of 25 January 2016, the President of the Republic and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces decided to make Commander John Peter Scudi, Defence Attaché at the US Embassy in Cameroon, Knight of the Order of Valour at the end of his stay in our country”, Defence Minister stated.
Beti Assomo explained that it is in recognition and appreciation of actions the US Defence Attaché carried out in the area of US-Cameroon Defence relations. Some of the achievements cited by Defence Minister during the event included the international training programme currently going on in Buea, US troop’s deployment for surveillance and intelligence gathering in Garoua, project to equip the Maritime Operations at the Navy Base in Douala amongst others.
