Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

After nearly two years of a marathon legal battle, the Special Criminal Court in Yaoundé has pronounced its verdict on the case involving the former general manager of the National Refining Company (Sonara), Charles Metouck. In the decision that was read late this Wednesday, October 21, 2015, Charles Metouck, and Jean Jules Edinguele one of his co-defendants were sentenced to 15 and 12 years imprisonment respectively. They were convicted for embezzlement from the public treasury and SONARA.

The other co-defendants, Dikoumé Leonard and Ngalle Mouelle were acquitted. Cameroon Concord Intelligence Unit gathered that no process of recovering the 500 million FCFA reportedly misappropriated by the Metouck gang was included in the judgment. The 65 years old, Charles Metouck headed Sonara for eleven years before being sacked under funny circumstances on February 15, 2013 and replaced by the current General Manager, Ibrahim Talba Malla.
