President Idris Deby is new African Union Chairman
President Idris Deby, the Chadian Head of State, aged 64, was named on Saturday, January 30, 2016 by his peers as the new African Union Chairman during the General Assembly that held in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia. Idriss Deby has therefore replaced the veteran, 92 years old Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe. In his first statement, the new leader of the African Union and Head of State of Chad for the last 26 years, said his mandate will be dedicated to combat terrorism.
