Anglophone Cameroon systematically snubbed during AWCON opening ceremony

The Francophone organizers of the 10th edition of AWCON currently holding in Cameroon have systematically snubbed the inclusion of the Anglophone section of the country during the opening ceremony of the tournament held on November 19th, 2016 in Yaounde. Look at how the Northwest and South West have been cut off from other regions .

A group of children held hands in Cameroon-shape formation to create a map of Cameroon, with no single child standing in the Anglophone regions, instead a wall was created cutting of the area from the rest of the country. This comes at a time when the country seems divided over the issue of language segregation.It is over one month now since Common Law Lawyers launched an indefinite strike action calling among others for the translation of the OHADA Uniform Act and a return to Federalism in the country.

The lawyers are angry about the widespread use of the French language in the court system.The lawyers are refusing to work until the government acts to reduce the use of French in the courts.ameroon’s constitution says the two languages are equal, but many official documents and events  are written or hosted only in French.
