Cameroon says the Exim Bank of China has made available the amount of FCFA 75billion loan package  for the provision of 500,000 laptop computers to students.
The information was made public by the Minister of Higher Education on Tuesday during a news conference in Yaoundé.
The firm to supply the machines is ready to start assembling, the statesman said.
The lone agreement was signed last year in China between the bank and Cameroon, represented by prime minister Yang Philemon.
Paul Biya announced the controversial offer in July 2016.Students from public  and stade-recognized private higher institutions of learning are set to benefit from the controversial gifts.
The offer is limited to   the 2016/2017 academic year.

Registration is ongoing at some institutions meanwhile others have already completed.
This has been considered by Biya's critics as a political move, especially given the closeness of the 2018 presidential election.
But the president argues he wants his children to join the digital race.
In the meantime, the exact date for distribution is yet to be disclosed.
