Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Yaoundé, Cameroon – In a bid to preserve critical evidence in a sweeping investigation into state land management, the Minister of State Property and Land Affairs, Henri Eyebe Ayissi, has ordered heightened security measures for regional and departmental offices.

Fears of arson and burglary have prompted the urgent directive, issued on August 14, 2024. The minister expressed concerns that attempts to destroy incriminating documents could hinder the ongoing joint investigation by the Economic and Financial Police (SED) and the National Gendarmerie (DGSN), initiated by the President.

The investigation delves into the management of state-owned land and alleged encroachments on private property. The minister's directive comes in the wake of a suspicious fire that consumed a departmental office in the Centre region, coinciding with the arrival of investigators.

In a memorandum to regional and departmental delegates, Minister Eyebe Ayissi mandated the immediate hiring of security personnel to protect all offices, with a particular emphasis on those involved in the investigation. The security measures are to remain in place for the duration of the probe.
