Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Following the perpetual killings and detention of anglophones, violence, ghost towns which have led to economic stagnation, grounding of schools and courts in the north west and south west regions of Cameroon stemming from the ongoing anglophone crisis , civil society organizations, parents, religious bodies and school proprietors have not stopped mounting pressure on SDF members of Parliament to engage any action that can end the ongoing stalemate in the north west and south west regions of Cameroon before schools resume in September for the 2017/2018 academic year.

It is for this reason that the SDF parliamentary group at the National Assembly organised a press Conference, Friday June 7 2017 to announce the holding of an All Anglophone Conference 3 (AAC 3) in Buea, the capital city of the south west region of Cameroon, from the 18 to 19 of August 2017. The meeting as emphasized by the SDF parliamentary group leader, Hon. Joseph Mbanazem, shall be attended by Chiefs, Fons, MPs, elites, religious leaders, amongst others all from the two English speaking regions and should be bonafide Anglophones by origin. The MPs said their recess period is to lay the ground work ahead of the AAC3.They are also expected to draft a document which will be forwarded to president Biya, for him to okay the holding of the conference.

The representatives of the people reiterated the AAC3 will be a golden opportunity for all anglophones to package their worries in a single bag and forward it to mr Biya.More to that, the present divisions and factions that exist amongst anglophone elites will be highlighted. The only obstacle to this giant initiative can be mr Paul Biya's refusal to authorise its holding according to some protagonists.

Many observers have said it is the non respect and implementation of the resolutions of AAC1 and AAC2 in Buea and Bamenda in 1993 and 1994 respectively that has plunged Cameroon into the current socio-economic and political instability which has ruined the two English speaking regions of the country.

However, it is so unfortunate that this initiative is coming at a time when most anglophones have moved from federalists to secessionists meanwhile the convenor of the meeting, the SDF stands for federation.
