Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

The Cameroonian Senate on the 3rd of June 2017, adopted a new law, which will permit members of government to assume the post of President of Administrative Council (PCA), while functioning as members of government.

Investir au Cameroun, an Economic Magazine revealed this information in chapter 3 of their recent publication, Wednesday 5 June. This therefore means that, ministers and other members of government are no longer restricted from exercising their greed as that is what had been obtaining in Cameroon even before the implementation of this law.

Before now, article 21 of the 1999 law of December 22, stated clearly that “the post of president of Administrative council is incompatible with that of the members of government”.

This change comes at a time when Senator Peter Mafany has dropped his resignation letter which will have him stripped of his functions as a senator. He is reported to have done this in order to focus on the Commission for Bilingualism and Multiculturalism where he is president.
