Cameroon’s President Paul Biya has sent a congratulatory message to Donald Trump following his re-election as the 47th President of the United States. The Republican candidate secured victory over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the November 5, 2024, election.
Trump, a former U.S. president, is set to take office on January 20, 2025, succeeding Joe Biden.
Following Trump’s win, leaders from around the world extended their congratulations. In his message, President Biya emphasized the long-standing ties between Cameroon and the United States and expressed optimism that Trump’s return to office would strengthen bilateral relations.
"It is with great pleasure that I extend my warm and heartfelt congratulations to you on your impressive re-election as President of the United States of America.
The American people have once again entrusted you with their confidence, recognizing your leadership and capacity to guide them toward progress in an uncertain international context.
I have no doubt that, as in the past, we will seize this remarkable opportunity to work together to enhance the historic relationship between Cameroon and the United States.
Wishing you every success in this new term, please accept, Mr. President-elect, the assurances of my highest regard and sincere friendship."
Biya’s message arrives as Cameroon marks his 42nd year in office and looks ahead to its own presidential election in October 2025.
