Cameroon's Ruling Party Retains Assembly Leadership, Fills Vacant Seat

Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, a prominent figure in Cameroonian politics, has once again secured his position as the President of the National Assembly, marking a continuation of his longstanding tenure in this influential role.

With a resounding endorsement of 143 votes out of 156, Djibril's reappointment underscores his enduring influence within the political landscape of Cameroon.

Djibril's political journey spans over five decades, characterized by unwavering dedication and commitment to public service. His career began on June 7, 1970, when he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Cameroon. Over the years, he has held various positions of leadership and responsibility, demonstrating his experience and expertise in legislative affairs.

In May 18, 1973, Djibril assumed the role of deputy for the UNC (Union Nationale Camerounaise) in the National Assembly, where he served as the quaestor of the office from 1973 to 1983. Subsequently, he ascended to the position of 3rd Vice-President of the National Assembly, a testament to his rising prominence within the legislative body.

Despite a brief period of absence from 1988 to 1992, Djibril's return to the Assembly following the elections of March 1, 1992, marked a resurgence of his political career.
