Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Yaoundé, June 11, 2024 — Nformi Ngala Gerard, a former conman turned CPDM politician and current Member of Parliament representing the Ndu/Nkambe Constituency, has urged Cameroonians to reaffirm their confidence in President Paul Biya, the 92-year-old incumbent Head of State.

Speaking at a gathering in Yaoundé, Ngala, a staunch supporter of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) party, made a passionate appeal.

Earlier this year, Hon. Gerard gained notoriety when a video surfaced showing him distributing cash to pupils in Nkambe, ostensibly to encourage their participation in youth day activities. Tragically, the event culminated in an explosion during the February 11th match pass, resulting in numerous injuries and fatalities. This incident starkly highlights the intricate intersection of politics and public safety in Cameroon.

Ngala, formerly involved in criminal activities such as the "wash wash" trade in Europe and Turkey, transitioned to pursue a better life by joining Cameroon's ruling party, the CPDM. Through persistence and reportedly involving bribery, he secured his position as a Member of Parliament for his constituency.
