Joshua Osih Extends Support to Victims of Tragedy in Bamenda and Nkambe | Cameroon News

Joshua Osih, the chairman of the Social Democratic Front (SDF), recently embarked on a poignant journey to Bamenda and Nkambe, two towns in the North West region of Cameroon.

These visits were aimed at meeting with and offering support to the victims of a devastating fire and explosion that rocked the communities in February 2024.

In Bamenda, Osih stood amidst the remnants of the once bustling main market, which had succumbed to a fierce blaze on February 22, 2024. This inferno, described as one of the most destructive in the region's history, ravaged hundreds of shops and goods, leaving behind a trail of devastation worth millions of CFA francs. Expressing heartfelt sympathy, Osih assured the affected individuals of the unwavering support of the SDF in their journey towards recovery.

Venturing further to Nkambe, Osih encountered the survivors of a tragic explosion that occurred during the Youth Day celebration on February 11, 2024. The explosion, allegedly triggered by an improvised explosive device planted by suspected separatist fighters, claimed the lives of at least two individuals and left numerous others, primarily children, with severe injuries. With compassion and solidarity, Osih reassured the survivors that they were not alone in their healing process, offering the support of the SDF in their time of need.

Reflecting on his visits, Osih emphasized the unwavering resilience of the people of the North West region. He conveyed a message of hope, emphasizing that together, they would overcome these adversities and pave the way for a brighter future. In a show of solidarity, Osih condemned the violence and bloodshed plaguing the region, advocating for peace, dialogue, and federalism as the viable solutions to the longstanding Anglophone crisis.
