The Chief of Staff of Cavaye Yeguie Djibril dismissed this Thursday on the eve of the start of the parliamentary session.
The controversial Chief of Staff of Cavaye YEGUIE Djibril, has been dismissed. He has been replaced by KAMSOULOUM ELHADJI HACHIMI. On the high instructions of Paul Biya, the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic had asked the President of the National Assembly to find a replacement for Boukar Abdourahim. The latter, involved in numerous scandals.
Beyond the open conflict with Cavaye's family, the final straw that seems to have provoked the anger of the Etoudi Palace is the latest scandal surrounding the thorny Anglophone question. Indeed, on August 28, 2023, during a meeting with the people of Tokomberé in the Far North of Cameroon, where he, like Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, hails from, Boukar Abdourahim declares: "Tell our Father (Cavaye Yeguie Djibril), for more than twenty years, you have given key positions in the Assembly to people from elsewhere. Now it's the turn of the children of Tokombéré... We have snatched the position of Technical Advisor from an Anglophone from Mbengwi in the Northwest."
These remarks sparked the anger of more than a dozen deputies from the Anglophone region, mainly from the Northwest, who in a four-page memorandum dated September 5, 2023, called for sanctions against Boukar Abdourahim, whose statements, according to them, violate "the principles of coexistence advocated by Paul Biya" and demanded sanctions.
It seems that the Anglophone deputies have been heard.
