Biya grants audience to French Minister of Finance and Public Accounts , Mr. Michel Sapin , The Frenchman also met with the Minister of Finance (MINFI)Ousmane Mey, and the Minister of Economy , Planning and Regional Development ( MINEPAT) , Louis Paul Motaze .

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the 3rd Agreement Debt Reduction and Development , the estimated amount could reach nearly 400 billion FCFA according to the French Embassy in Yaounde.

 Franco-Cameroon relationship has affected Cameroon’s capacity and willingness to develop into a true democracy capable of enacting the reforms necessary for the protection of human rights for all Came roonians. While the extent of France’s involvement in Cameroon’s current politic s permits France to benefit from the arrangement, it also impedes possibilities fo r reform by strengthening leadership that stands to benefit from t he status quo.

In addition to exemplifying France’s ec onomic interests in Africa, Cameroon presents a strong instance of French inte rest in using Africa to advance the primacy of the French langua ge. As has been posited by critics and admirers of French policy in Africa alike, France’s former colonies in Africa have played a singular role in the promotion of the French language, embodied in the concept of the francophonie.
