Rumors that the most celebrated and triumphant queen of the Mountain, Sarah Etonge, who retired some two years ago from the Mount Cameroon race of hope plans to dare the chariots of the Gods has almost come to past with her not only taking part in the last test race organized in Buea but equally going as far as completing her registration.  


Athletes and spectators at the test race that took place Saturday 28 in Buea were astonished when they saw the over 55 years old queen of the mountain, Sarah Etonge not only registering herself but competing in a test race in which she displayed her might by occupying the second position after Gwellem Glory who came first.


Even though the queen of the mountain is yet to comment on if she plans to return to the racing tracks, news of her anticipated participation has been received with mixed feelings by her fans and denizens of Buea at large.
With over 200 athletes answering present, the Buea test race took place under the watchful eyes of the president of the National Athletics Federation, Emmanuel Motomby Mbome and the regional president, Eteki Njoh.


The final test race which set the pace for the 22nd edition of the Mount Cameroon Race scheduled to hold on February 25, saw Bacham Eric, Esembe Lyonga and Fuatembeh Eric occupying the first, second and third positions respectively in the male category.
The president of the National Athletics Federation, Emmanuel Motomby Mbome, told pressmen that all has been put in place for a successful organization of the competition. While informing pressmen that various committees had already been creating and put to work, the national president expressed optimism that this year’s race would be exceptional.


Motomby equally announced that after holding several meetings, the budget was already known and Buea was gearing up to host an exceptional race this year.
 On his part, the regional president of Athletics Federation, Eteki Njoh was categorical that even though Guinness Cameroon stepped out of the race after their partnership expired, more fruitful partners had already expressed their desire to sponsor the event.
As to the innovation this year, Eteki Njoh told reporters that the veteran category instead of running on the main day of the race, will have their own race on the eve, that is February 24, 2017.
