Cameroon U-20 has qualified for the 20th edition of the U-20 African Cup of Nations
Cameroon has qualified for the 20th edition of the U-20 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, programmed to take in Zambia in 2017.
The Lions booked a place last Sunday July 24 despite their 0-1 defeat in the hands of Libya in Tunisia. Cameroon was reduced to 10 man after defender Karl Ndedi Kengne was sent-off with a red card.
Cameroon’s qualification was validated thanks to their comprehensive 3-0 win over Libya in Cameroon a fourth night.
Following the return leg matches of the third and final round of qualifying for the U-20 AFCON 2017 played this weekend, the suspense have been lifted as the eight qualified nations for the finals are known.
Besides Zambia, host country, Cameroon, Guinea, Sudan, Senegal, South Africa, Guinea, Egypt and Mali have confirmed their ticket. Nigeria, the defending champion and Ghana will miss however the call.
The Junior AFCON will be held in Zambia from 26 February to 12 March 2017. During this competition, the four semi-finalists will qualify for the U-20 World Cup that will be played in Korea from May 20 to 11 June 2017.
