Indomitable Lions manage a 3-2 win over Union of Douala
Hugo Broos' boys failed to thrash the Douala based club as expected, leading with just one goal. They were at the brink of losing the match as the winning margin was too narrow.
The Lions were divided into two teams. The first team played the first half while the other team played the second.
In the first half, that was taken by the first set of players, Union of Douala were given a hard time. They conceded all three goals that would lead to their doom by the end of the day during this first 45 minutes.
The first segment of the encounter ended 3-0 in favour of the reigning Afcon champions. This score could be attributed to the offensive play that Union of Douala adopted.
All that was toiled for by the first selection of the Belgian football technician, which could be called "the winning team", was almost brought down to ruins by the second group of players who got in for the second half. In no space of time, they received 2 hot goals from the division one club, one being a penalty.
Despite the poor performance exercised by a good number of lions like Robert Ndip Tambe who squandered all the goal scoring opportunities he had, some of his team mates however, distinguished themselves and kept the excited fans on their feet like, Olivier Boumal. He plays for Panathinaikos, a Greek based club.
Olivier Boumal scored the third goal which won the match for the indomitable Lions and he also demonstrated great dribbling and passing skills which aroused a comparison between himself and Bassogog.
It is true that Hugo's key players were not there like Moukandjo, but at least the ones who were present should have performed better according to the fans. Hugo Broos after the game, equally expressed his dissatisfaction with some of the players.
