Biya receives French Secretary of State for Development
The President of the Republic of Cameroon, His Excellency Paul Biya has received in audience the French Secretary of State for Development and La Francophonie, Annick Girardin. The Monday 2nd of November 2015 audience at the Unity Palace was an opportunity for both parties to discuss the refugee crisis in the Far North and East regions and terrorism in the country.
The French Secretary of State for Development told local and international media that their discussions centred on security and reinforcing relation between Cameroon and La Francophonie. She reiterated President Francois Hollande’s support to Cameroon in the fight against the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
Madam Annick Girardin revealed French plans to continue to assist Cameroon with the Central African and Nigerian refugees camped by Cameroon in the Far North and East Regions. She also updated the Cameroonian dcitator on the Climate Change Summit to be hosted in Paris-France from 30th November 2015 to the 11th December 2015.
The special envoy expressed optimism with the situation of climate change in Africa specifically Cameroon and she said solutions will be sought during the Paris Climate Summit. The French government official was accompanied by the French Ambassador to Cameroon, Christine Robichon. She will be in Cameroon for the next two days after a sojourn stay in the Central African Republic to access the crisis in the country.
