Project C Denounces Fabricated Election Results, Calls for Nationwide Resistance
[YAOUNDÉ, Oct. 21, 2025] —
As tension deepens across Cameroon over the delayed and disputed results of the October 12 presidential election, the civic platform Project C has issued a strongly worded statement condemning what it calls “a grand theft of democracy” by ELECAM and the CPDM regime of outgoing President Paul Biya.
In the release, Project C accused the National Vote Counting Commission of transforming itself from an electoral safeguard into an “instrument for silencing the people’s voice.”
“It is unacceptable to witness the regime shamelessly attribute astronomical scores to President Biya, drawing on ghost voters in the North West and South West—areas devastated by war where normal voting was impossible,” the statement said.
The group further described ongoing manipulations in the East and South Regions as “a desperate attempt to manufacture legitimacy and erase the undeniable lead of Mr. Issa Tchiroma Bakary,” whose support, it said, “was evident in the genuine expression of the people’s will at polling stations nationwide.”
Rejecting the Theft of the People’s Voice
Project C called on Cameroonians at home and abroad to reject any results that do not reflect the true will of the electorate and to engage in peaceful but determined resistance.
“The time for silence has passed. The time to stand up is now,” the group declared.
“Peace is not the absence of violence; it is the presence of justice, freedom, and conscience. ELECAM’s actions are an affront to these principles and a direct threat to our national stability.”
Through its #StopTheFraud237 campaign, Project C urges citizens to mobilize through digital activism, civil disobedience, and coordinated nonviolent protest to defend their democratic rights.
Warning to the Constitutional Council
In a pointed message to the Constitutional Council, Project C warned its members not to legitimize a fraudulent outcome or they risk plunging the nation into further turmoil.
“Do not be complicit in driving Cameroon into deeper conflict.
The people have spoken. Do not trample their voice in the service of tyranny,” the statement cautioned.
Background and Mission
Project C describes itself as an organic movement of Cameroonians in the Diaspora committed to empowering citizens through civic education and defending democratic transition.
The group says its goal is to ensure “a Cameroon built on democracy, justice, and accountability—not deception, dictatorship, and fear.”
