Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Former Cameroonian international Alexandre Song has leveled serious accusations against the Fecafoot regarding the player selection process.

The relationship between Samuel Eto'o and Alexandre Song has never been harmonious, dating back to their time playing together for the Indomitable Lions. Despite a decade passing and Samuel Eto'o assuming the presidency of the Fédération Camerounaise de Football, Alexandre Song's sentiments toward him have not softened. Through various public statements on the management of Cameroonian football, particularly the national team selection, the former Arsenal player has criticized what he perceives as improper management.

During the broadcast of the "Fou Fou Foot" show on Monday, March 25, 2024, Song made revelations that cast a shadow over the current executive of the Fecafoot regarding the compilation of player lists for national team call-ups. "I don't understand how in the Cameroonian team, we don't call up a player like Jean Onana [...] The selector makes a list, sends it to the federation, but when the list comes back to him, it's not the same," he lamented.

Rigobert Song, Alexandre Song's uncle, served as the former coach of the Indomitable Lions until his contract ended in February 2024. The family relationship between the two Songs adds weight to Alexandre's claims, although no official statements have been made by Rigobert on the matter. Many observers speculate that the intervention of the Fecafoot president in the selection of the technical staff is an open secret within the football community.

The allegations made by Alexandre Song underscore the ongoing tensions and perceived lack of transparency within the Cameroonian football governing body. As the controversy unfolds, it raises questions about the integrity of the player selection process and the extent of influence wielded by those in positions of power within the Fecafoot.
