Cameroon's New Coach Marc Brys Begins European Scouting Mission
Marc Brys, the newly appointed head coach of the Cameroonian national team, has begun his European scouting mission, according to a recent article by Actu Cameroun citing Equinoxe Radio.
Brys' first stop was Germany on Friday, April 19th, 2024, coinciding with the 30th matchday of the Bundesliga. There, the coaching staff observed at least four Cameroonian players in action.
Ekitiké and Ebimbe Impress
Equinoxe Radio highlighted two players in particular: Hugo Ekitiké, who scored a goal, and Jean-Junior Dina Ebimbe, who provided the assist. Both players hold French nationality but are of Cameroonian origin.
"The young central midfielder, DINA EBIMBE, was excellent," praised Germain Noël Essengue, the national team's new press officer.
Brys Makes Initial Contacts
Brys reportedly met with a total of five Cameroonian players:
- Hugo Ekitike (Striker)
- Jean-Junior Dina Ebimbe (Central Midfielder)
- Jean-Matteo Bahoba (Left Winger)
- Noël Fetue (Striker)
- Jérôme Onguéné (Central Defender) - Did not play
Following the match, Brys also exchanged words with Mathias Beck, president of the winning club, Eintracht Frankfurt.
Scouting Continues with World Cup Qualifiers on the Horizon
Brys' European tour aims to evaluate potential players for the Cameroonian national team, also known as the Indomitable Lions. Cameroon has two crucial World Cup qualifiers scheduled for June against Cape Verde and Angola.
The new coaching staff, officially appointed on April 8th, 2024, has also expressed satisfaction with the quality of training facilities available to the national team in Yaoundé, according to Equinoxe Radio.
