Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

Recent rumors circulating on social media falsely announced the death of Issa Hayatou, the former president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), at the age of 77.

However, these reports have been debunked, and Mr. Hayatou is indeed alive and well.

Mr. Hayatou, who led CAF for nearly three decades before being succeeded by Ahmad Ahmad in 2017, unexpectedly became the subject of false death rumors in recent days. Despite the confusion caused by these erroneous reports, journalist Richard Naha swiftly refuted them, emphasizing Mr. Hayatou's continued vitality. This confirmation was corroborated by colleague Njie Enow, further dispelling any doubts about Mr. Hayatou's well-being.

Despite facing a one-year suspension from FIFA in 2021, Mr. Hayatou maintains a significant presence in African football. As the honorary president of CAF, he continues to wield influence and holds key positions within the Cameroonian National Football Academy. Additionally, he played a role in organizing the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, underscoring his enduring commitment to the sport.
