Fecafoot has announced its decision to boycott the meeting with the Minister of Sports and Physical Education scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

The meeting, aimed at resolving the impasse surrounding the selection of the new technical staff for the Indomitable Lions, will proceed without the participation of Fecafoot.

The decision to boycott the meeting comes after Fecafoot's proposal for amendments to the coaching staff selection process was rejected by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education.

According to journalist Albin Njilo, Fecafoot's proposal was an attempt at conciliation following President Paul Biya's instructions.

"Following instructions from the presidency, I was tasked with finding a solution to the crisis surrounding the selection of the Indomitable Lions team," explained Njilo. "Fecafoot, in an attempt to find a resolution, accepted Marc Brys as the coach but insisted on naming his assistants and the rest of the staff. This list has already been sent to the President of the Republic."

However, the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education rejected Fecafoot's proposal, leading to the current stalemate.

"There are two alternatives: either the Minister has proposed reconciliation with Fecafoot, or FIFA intervenes," stated Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.

Albin Njilo also revealed that Marc Brys could be seen with the proposed coaching staff in the meeting room, indicating that preparations for the team's management are underway despite the ongoing dispute.
