Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

FECAFOOT has responded to Geremie Sorelle Njitap's request for sanctions from CAF and FIFA following the alleged violence he experienced in Ivory Coast.

According to FECAFOOT, Njitap's behavior has been labeled as "irresponsible," which they claim has tarnished the image of Cameroon and the Indomitable Lions.

In their statement, FECAFOOT highlights that they discovered a radio-press release signed by the Secretary General of the National Union of Footballers of Cameroon (SYNAFOC) regarding incidents that supposedly occurred in the locker room of the Indomitable Lions during the Cameroon-Gambia match in the 2023 CAN Total Energies in Côte d'Ivoire. They assert that access to the locker rooms during the African Cup of Nations is conditional upon the presentation of a pass given to teams the day before each match, including the Presidents of Member Associations.

FECAFOOT accuses Njitap of transgressing these provisions by attempting to access the locker rooms without the required pass and subsequently clashing with the Federation's security. They further claim that during the Cameroon-Nigeria match, Njitap allegedly directed invectives against the President of FECAFOOT.

Consequently, FECAFOOT condemns Njitap's behavior, stating that it has damaged Cameroon's reputation and that of the Indomitable Lions. They have taken action by submitting correspondence to the governing body of African football to denounce and clarify the situation, with the expectation that appropriate consequences will be drawn.

This response from FECAFOOT marks the escalation of tensions between Samuel Eto'o and Geremie Njitap, setting the stage for further conflict in the future.
