Francis Ngannou Breaks Silence After Tragic Accident Kills 17-Year-Old in Yaoundé
Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion and current PFL fighter, has broken his silence following a devastating motorcycle accident in his hometown of Yaoundé, Cameroon, that claimed the life of 17-year-old Ntsama Brigitte Manuella over the Easter weekend.
Cameroon Concord had earlier reported that Ngannou was riding his motorcycle in the Omnisports district when he collided with the young woman. He immediately rushed her to Yaoundé General Hospital and covered all medical expenses. Despite undergoing emergency surgery for serious arm and leg injuries, she tragically succumbed to her wounds.
In a deeply emotional statement shared with TMZ Sports, Ngannou expressed his sorrow:
“From the very beginning, I have been by the family’s side, offering support, comfort, and deepest condolences during this time. I’ve met with them privately to share in their grief, and I will continue to stand with them every step of the way. I carry their pain with me, and my unwavering thoughts and support remain with them as they face this heartbreaking loss.”
This tragedy follows another personal heartbreak for Ngannou, who lost his 15-month-old son, Kobe, in April 2024 due to a brain malformation. The fighter has previously spoken about the profound emotional toll that loss has taken on him.
Cameroonian authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Ngannou has withheld further public comments out of respect for the ongoing investigation.
Despite the sorrow, Ngannou remains close to the bereaved family, showing unwavering support during this difficult time.
