A 26-year-old striker for Cameroonian second division team Dynamo de Douala collapsed during a match and later died, according to Cameroon's professional Football league. Leopold Angong Oben was fouled in the penalty area, earning his team a spot-kick during the first half of the match against Colombe du Dja-et-Lobo at the Reunification Stadium in the commercial capital Douala on Saturday.
He received treatment on the field and resumed play but collapsed minutes later. "He collapsed in the stadium in the 33rd minute of the match. "His team mates tried to revive him without success," said sports journalist Aime Moukoko, who was in the stadium reporting on the match. The referee called for the assistance of Red Cross personnel present at the stadium, the Cameroon Professional Football League said in a statement. "(Oben) was evacuated to a Douala hospital where he passed away minutes after," the statement said.
His cause of death has not been disclosed. Oben was the second player from Dynamo de Douala to die in the span of three weeks after 27-year-old goalkeeper Ferdinand Mbog passed away following an unspecified illness.

The leader of the Iya Mohammed's legal team, Barrister Mballa Manasseh has pleaded with the Special Criminal Court not to send his client to jail brandishing his kind donations he made towards the development of the country. Iya Mohammed currently detained for embezzlement was not only the manager of the Cameroon Cotton Development Corporation (Sodecoton), but was also the president of the Cameroon Football Federation aka FECAFOOT. His advocate painted a picture of him in front of judges at the Special Criminal Court describing Iya as "a man with a good heart."
Barrister Mballa revealed that Iya Mohammed's acts of kindness resulted in him making generous donations to the tune of 40 to 50 billion FCFA in cash to remote areas in the Northern regions of the country. Mballa Manasseh recalled that it was also under the 31 years rule of Iya Mohammed at Cameroon Cotton Development Corporation (Sodecoton) that the company garnered significant dividends and concluded that it would be unfair to convict his client especially as the charges against him were fabricated by people who wanted his job at the Cameroon Football Federation.
The Special Criminal Court session that was chaired by Justices Yap Abdou and Yvette siewe reminded the court that Iya Mohammed was among others accused of embezzling 3.178 billion FCFA including a 5.385 billion FCFA leveled as "unexplained".

Clinton N'Jie, like many non-European Union-based players, can't just waltz into England and start playing for Tottenham Hotspur. Instead, he needed to secure a work permit in order to earn his paycheck in the UK.
That hurdle has now officially been crossed. The Premier League's regulations limit work permits to only non-EU footballers "of the highest calibre," meaning they must meet the following criteria:
A player must have played for his country in at least 75% of its competitive A team matches of which he was available for selection, during the two years preceding the date of the application The player's country must be at or above 70th place in the official FIFA world rankings when averaged over the two years preceding the date of the application.
Clinton has already made 11 appearances for theIndomitable Lions, and Cameroon is a solid CAF country whose FIFA rank has never dipped below 65th place since 2003.
By either criteria, N'Jie was a shoo-in for a permit, which is why Tottenham didn't think twice about signing him even before his work permit came through. Now that he's "legal," Clinton is eligible for selection for Tottenham's first team squad.
Tottenham arrived at Leicester City ahead of their 1-1 draw on Saturday without Clinton Njie in the squad.
