Atanga Nji Paul shocks Cameroonians again

The Minister Territorial Administration came under serious criticism after revealing that he would get help from Mr Paul Biya before getting rid of a broken rock threatening to fall on some inhabitants of Yaounde.

He visited the site last week, where he made the statement.

The almost-falling rock is hanging at the edge of a hill in the Simbock neighborhood in the country's political capital.

Minister Antanga Nji is quoted by media reports as having admitted the situation was dangerous and getting out of hand, and: "We will draft a report which we will send to the head of state.

"He will provide orientation, and those who are in charge will handle it," he has added.

The question Cameroonians are asking is: why must the minister wait for the president's approval to handle an issue that can destroy many lives within the twinkle of an eye?

This follows another remark he made in 2016 when the Anglophone Crisis escalated. Antanga Nji Paul publicly denied that there was any problem in Anglophone Cameroon.

 But then the government soon admitted there was a problem, and committees and commission were formed to handle it.

Despite this controversy, Antanga Nji Paul even won the love of Mr Biya who appointed him minister recently.
