Bamenda: A missing individual has been discovered buried apparently alive in Bafut
A man missing individual has been discovered buried apparently alive in a shallow grave in Bafut village-Bamenda.
Sources close to the victim say he had been missing for a while, the wife became concerned as he had no previous attitude of being absent from home for so long.As the wife's concerns grew, she contacted the missing husband's brother who immediately alerted the police and the Mobile Communications Network to which his brother's cell number was registered(MTN-Cameroon).
Information gathered from MTN-Cameroon led investigators to a certain individual who had allegedly purchased the victims telephone.Upon pressure mounting through the police interrogation, the suspect changed his version of the story and said he bought the phone from someone who said the owner had been killed and buried.He went further to give more details on the location of the burial site.However he tried to distance himself from the crime.
Police and local administrative authorities including the Divisional officer for the area quickly mobilized youths and went to the said area.A shallow grave was found,members of the group quickly unearthed through the soil and after a few inches of digging they found the body of the victim in a state of decomposition, with his hands and legs tied, mouth filled with ground and sealed with tape and a knife on his body . Reports claim more suspects were apprehended and investigations are still ongoing.
