Cameroon Chibok Girl: Nigerian delegation expected in Yaounde soonest
Authorities in Nigeria have decided to send a delegation to Cameroon following the arrest on Friday of a suicide bomber said to be one of the schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in Chibok in northern Nigeria. The delegation will include among others some of the parents of the abducted girls. Cameroon Concord gathered Nigeria wants the process to be done and done in a hurry and are anxiously waiting for Yaounde to give the green light.
The Nigerian delegation while in Cameroon would verify the identity of the girl aged fifteen years. Garba Shehu, the spokesman of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari told local and international media that “As soon as we get permission from Cameroon, we will dispatch our delegation in the first available flight”.
A spokesperson for “Bring Back Our Girls” campaign noted that “If the revelations of the girl are true and fair, it could revive hopes that the girls are alive”. Some 270 schoolgirls were abducted in April 2014 during a raid by the Nigerian Islamic sect movement, Boko Haram in Chibok-a locality in north-western Nigeria near the Cameroonian border. Fifty of them managed to escape.
