SW Region-Cameroon:Buea D.O Orders Arrest And Detention of 15 Wokaka Villagers
Some 15 villagers of Wokaka village have been arrested and detained following orders from the Divisional Officer for Buea,Kouam Wokam Paul. It is alledged that the villagers were caught removing pillars from lands in the village.But other sources say the detained men and women were taking part in a clean up campaign.
The chief of Wokaka village;HRH Njombe Johnson alerted the D.O who sent security forces to arrest and detain the farmers Saturday September 24,2016. It is alleged that the villagers were caught removing pillars from lands in the village.But other sources say the detained men and women were taking part in a clean up campaign.That he,Njombe cannot rule his village,hence cannot be president of South West Chiefs Conference of which he is a candidate "It is a sabotage,they have failed.
They came for me but did not see me" he said. Meantime South West Secretary for Human Rights,Christopher TAMBE TIKU for arresting the villagers without arrest warrant from the State Counsel .He moves further to say the D.O has stayed aloof over hunger strike undertaken by the villagers. The Rights Activist said the fact that the detention order was signed by the D.O means the police were also embarrassed.
