Chiwenga, whose appearance on state television on Nov. 15 preceded armed soldiers taking to the streets, paving the way for Emmerson Mnangagwa to become president, is the latest in a string of military leaders to be elevated to government positions.

Over 433 Ambazonia detainees at the Buea Central Prison face life threatening illnesses following yesterday's meal that was served them at the prison. They need urgent medical attention to be followed by their unconditional release from prison.
As a matter of fact, those who ate the prison food developed complications which made them to deficate periodically throughout the night until late in the morning hours, since there is only one toilet per ward, some inmates defecated on their clothes, others did so in buckets while others used wrapping papers.
The cues and conflicts infront of the toilet caused a lot of disturbances all night long. It was about 7am that they opened the doors for some to rush to the public open air latrine.
Despite the pandemonium, the prison authorities have remained silent.

The director of the National School of Administration and Magistracy has suggested that the name of the man who passed the exams even without taking the last phase be replaced with that of a candidate still alive.
This comes amid increasing calls for more light to be shed on the incident.
A man from the South region is reported to have passed the exams, though he had died before the final part.
The director of ENAM believes that it was an error.
This session of the exams is one of the most controversial, with the Minister of Public Service adding hundreds of names to a list initially published by the director.
This new twist in events has made pundits wonder if the list of successful candidates for any competitive entrance exam is pre-established before the exam is taken.

Patracie Nganang, a US based professor of Cameroonian origin and a fierce critic of the Biya has regained freedom from Yaounde's central prison today. Patrice Nganang was arrested and looked up three weeks ago as he was boarding a flight to leave Cameroon at the Douala International Airport. The activist who is also a professor in the US was accused by the regime of inciting hatred and attacking the president through a comment he made on his Facebook profile on the ongoing anglophone crisis that has plagued the nation for over a year now. He appeared in court last week Wednesday in Yaounde.During that court session, some of the charges against him were dropped and the case was adjourned to be heard again on January 19th, 2018.
Today's unexpected court appearance and subsequent freedom is seen by many observers as a result of Iinternational condemnation of Biya's crackdown of freedom of expression and intimidation in the country. He was ordered to leave Cameroon for good after today's court appearance. There was a motion of jubilation early this morning amongst Anglophone detainees at the kodengui maximum prison as news of the liberation of Patrice Nganang went viral.
Born in 1970, Nganang is a professor of Literary at the State University of New York. However, it is his facet as a writer that has earned him so much international recognition, especially since the publication of his second novel Temps de chien in 1999, with which he received the Marguerite Yourcenar Prize and the Black Africa Literary Grand Prize, both in 2002.
From his position as a well-known writer living abroad, Nganang is the real black beast of the authoritarian regime of Mr Biya and the external amplifier of the deep political crisis that Cameroon is experiencing.
