Togo announces universal health insurance for all by 2024
Until now, reserved for civil servants and certain constituted bodies, health insurance will be extended to the entire Togolese population in January 2024. A major social reform promised by Faure Gnassingbé during the last presidential election.
Flagship program of Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé's five-year term, health insurance is set to become universal. The system, aimed at ensuring access to essential healthcare, will be extended to the entire population in January 2024. Only 8% of Togolese have benefited from it since 2012.
