CAMSOC celebrates All Cultural Day in Boston-USA
It was a memorable exciting and heavily attended life time cultural event organized by the Cameroon Social Club aka CAMSOC in Boston Massachusetts, under the theme “Unified in Thought and Action” on July, 25th, 2015. CAMSOC cultural jamboree is celebrated annually and the 2015 edition was a spectacular and colourful display of the rich Cameroon cultures as Africa in miniature. The ceremonial hall at 465 Mount Auburn St. Watertown was jammed to capacity not only with Cameroonians and other African citizens but also Europeans, Chinese, Americans and Latinos who were guests to enjoy Africa's most diverse country in terms of its cultural heritage.
After a prophetic blessing by Pastor Abraham Bokwe, the national anthems of both Nations [Cameroon and America] were delieverd by Amanda Perez and Fru Asobo respectively. Thereafter, all leaders of Cameroonian traditional groups did a solemn pouring of libation in their unique and respective cultures calling for peace to reign in both nations and Africa as a whole. In a key note address, Loic Assobmo underscored the need for development in Cameroon and Africa in general. He further revealed to the mammoth crowd some of the projects earmarked for Cameroon in the domain of Health, Education and Tourism. He decried the fact that though under-developed, Cameroon have bacon of potentials to get to any level in the world stage.
The activities of the day included a fashion parade display and presentation of the different cultures by Cameroonian Massachusetts kids, traditional dishes from Cameroon, colourful and very attractive traditional attires representing all the regions of Cameroon and Dance groups. It should equally be noted that for the first time CAMSOC had the privilege of watching Nigerian and Congolese groups displayed their various traditions and culture. Some of the Cameroonian traditional dance group that took part in the animation were Bakoko, Bakweri, Bakossi, Mankon, Support Sister, Wibum, Manyu Family, Bamoun, Nde Association, Nkwen, Noma, Bamileke, Moghamo and Haut Nkam NE.
In a rollicking closing remark that received thunderous applause from all the corners of the ceremonial hall, the Chairman of CAMSOC Boston Gerald Tabi with its putative executive, showered appreciations to all the groups and concerted efforts for the realisation of this historic cultural jamboree. He noted that the massive mobilisation had been extraordinary and the turn out including the ambiance unprecedented, fascinating and exceptional. Therefore, summer 2016 CAMSOC cultural Day in Boston MA promise to produce fireworks.
