Politics
The first lady of Cameroon wore the fabric of her spouse, President Paul Biya’s political party, the CPDM to the march past ground.
This is unlike what used to obtain in recent years. Immediately she set foot at the 20th May Boulevard, social networks like, Facebook and Whatsapp, started swelling up with comments about her outfit like, “this year we are surely celebrating the National CPDM day” for those who saw no reason why she had to dress that way, while others argued that its normal for one to represent their party with their outfit.
This is a day which the regime faithfuls consider as the National Reunification day, but everybody was surprised to perceive “mama Chantou” as she is affectionately called, with the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement party uniform.
Some observers even proposed that, she should have joined the civilians of her party who were marching past, if she really intended to put on a political party’s attire.
Another aspect which together with Chantal Biya’s own case illustrated the fact that, the party in power wishes to take control over everything in the country, is the unimaginable number of CPDM militants who paraded. Many of them took part compared to the other groups who seemingly were few in numbers
The number of Biya’s paraders was too enormous despite the fact that, only few individuals had to be selected per group according to instructions, to participate in the civilian march past, in order to hasten the pace of activities.

The national president of the Cameroon’s People’s Party has reminded the Biya regime that the status quo serves the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement well.
Kah WalLa was speaking on Cameroon Calling on the state broadcaster Crtv. She was confronting Gladys Etombi, CPDM parliamentarian for Fako East Constituency on what they called “political education”.
Kah Walla began by asking rhetorically why the CPDM needed the CPP and the SDF so baldy at this moment. The SDF and CPP are the leading political parties which championed the boycott of the National Day, partly explaining the reason for the rhetorical question.
The media outing comes barely 24 hours after the CPP boycotted National Unity Day celebrations. While Etombi considered the move as a sign of the lack of political education, Kah Walla made it clear that “it is enshrined in the constitution”. The boycott is a right, a form of protest.
“[…] the result of 34 years of CPDM management of this country is that one out of every two Cameroonians doesn’t have water to drink[…]”, she pointed out.
Fighting back on the question of peace in Cameroon, Kah Walla pointed out that peace does not necessarily mean the absence of war.
“There are millions of Cameroonians in the Far North of the country who have been under attack for close to seven years now. You cannot talk of peace when the North West and south West are completely militarized”.
For that reason, Kah Walla called on the entire CPDM to go “back to school and learn the definition of peace as well as fundamental human rights and democracy.”
But Etombi Gladys would not let go. She accused the entire Opposition of being selfish, hence unable to form a coalition and bring the regime to its knees.
The CPP did not lack a replay to this. Beginning with a sarcastic wave of laughter, she retorted bitterly. “ Haha. There is no need to rally together if you have a democracy. They have created an undemocratic state. A state where they rig elections and turn round and say the opposition should come together.”
“We need to fix the ground move in this country […] Cameroonians are on the move,” she continued, adding that the CPDM is under pressure, hence the “bizarre reaction”.
The president of the CPP also called for putting in place of an “independent electoral commission” as well as the institution of a second round of voting, the run-off.
More than 30 political parties scramble for the presidency during each presidential election, yet the ruling party always “wins” during the first round. After all, there is no run-off, victory or no victory.
Edith Kah Walla had declared a boycott of National Day celebrations before her deputy sent a message to the Crtv, contracting the boycott. He had considered the decision “unilateral” by the president.
He had argued that it was irrational to boycott the celebrations when one was planning to govern the nation.

In a communiqué signed by the Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma Bakari, mobile phones will not be allowed into the Unity Palace during the reception organised by the presidential couple, marking the 45th edition of the so called National Reunification.
Yesterday 19th May, it was made public by the State manipulated TV and Radio stations, that the power mongers of Etoudi had restricted the accessibility of guests with phones into the presidential mansion after the March past at the 20th May Boulevard.
This was done with the pretext that cell phones could obstruct the smooth control of the population that is expected to be present at the unity Palace.
This calls for much questioning, as the public does not imagine how mobile phones could stand as an obstacle to the easy access of guests to the after-march past ceremony.
Some are suggesting that there is something which they want to hide from the world, while others speculate that the old age of President Paul Biya who is now 84, does not permit him to act vibrantly as people in his position ought to, during such ceremonies and thus will not want the public to notice that.

Panic griped administrative authorities in Ndop in Ngoketunjia Division of the North West Region, when cable operators in the Division recently added the newly created Southern Cameroons Broadcasting Corporation (SCBC TV) to their cable lines and transported the signals into homes.
Within hours, everybody in Ndop was watching the television channel and relegated the State-owned Cameroon Radio Television Corporation (CRTV) to the background.
The people said CRTV has been carrying out Government propaganda and broadcasting lies to Cameroonians and the entire world about the Anglophone Problem, which has paralysed economic, academic and judicial institutions in the North West and South West Regions for half a year now.
The people regarded SCBC as their own station that will tell their own story and portray their suffering to the entire world to see how Anglophones in Cameroon are not only marginalised, but how they are treated as second class citizens by their French counterpart.
News of the new channel spread in the Ngoketunjia Divisional headquarters (Ndop) like wild fire and within hours, the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) of Ngoketunjia, Valery Nobert Kuella, is said to have switched on his television set in the office and captured the new channel.
Stunned by the new channel and the enthusiasm with which the population of the Division has received it, the administrator immediately summoned the Legion Commander of Ndop to his office and ordered him to rally his men and arrest the seven cable network operators and dashed into households and arrest all those watching the new channel.
The Ndop Legion Commander and his men set out for work and swooped on the cable network distributors and remanded them into custody, while a manhunt was opened for viewers of the channel.
The SDO is reported to have requested for more security forces to be drafted into the Division to help maintain law and order, especially as the country prepares to celebrate her 45th National Day.
According to Kuella, the Division has been suffering from intense Ghost Town and that the administration will not take any chances from anybody that will attempt to destabilise the security of the State.
The SDO is also said to have ordered that all young people who are fanning and promoting the Ghost Town calls in Ndop should be arrested.
Speaking to Cameroon Concord one of our source in Ndop said; “Young people in Ndop, especial the male are sleeping in their farms now just to escape from arrest.”

The reaction of Cameroonians to men in uniform is as, alarming, old and threatening as the presence of colonial masters in Africa and Cameroon (in particular).
But as Cameroon celebrates National “Unity” Day, things are losing their masks gradually.
The Ministry of Defence has invited and urged Cameroonians to go closer to men in uniform at the 101 air base in Yaounde in a bit to understand how they operate. This, they say, is to make the military a little familiar with civilians, in line with the theme of this year’s National Day which entails harmony between the military and civilians.
Through this encounter, most Cameroonians will fall in love with the profession and join it as soon as possible. This is another objective of the move.
However, the secrets of the corps will not be revealed to civilians, the message reiterates.
This is a wonderful move to be lauded by many, especially those who have had any dark memory about the men in uniform in Cameroon.
People who have had a foretaste of the brutal presence of the “white man” in Africa may tell you better.
I can still recall a certain day when a friend recounted a hyper-shocking story to me. That was in 2012 in Ndop (North West Region).
A certain member of the Rapid Intervention Brigade (BIR) had returned home for a break just to find out that his sister was pregnant.
Without any delay, he took matters into his own hands and gave the author of the pregnancy the kind of cruel beating that only Jesus Christ can explain its twists and turns.
He was a “BIR” and nothing could be done against him.
The same drama happened in a village in the same Region, not far from Ndop, after all.
Another “BIR” beat a man to death on the grounds that the latter had made his sister pregnant.
In fact, these two are just isolated cases in a line of uncountable life stories.
The presence of men in uniform can only be likened to the dreadful thought of hellfire, for Christians, most importantly in rural areas where most people do not know their rights.
We may not have to cite cases in our village where people just offer drinks to gendarme officers like water flowing down a river. And to an outsider, it gives the impression that the villagers are generous to a fault, even more than the Bible recommends.

Today the 19th of May,2017, a troop of French speaking Cameroonian Police stormed homes at Alabukam, Chuboh and Mile 8 neighbourhood arresting, molesting and collecting bribes from peace loving Anglophones, who because of being fed up with the lies they are fed with by CRTV,chosed to obtain dishes so as to be informed.
How can people be deprived of their dishes that host close to forty different channels just because of one channel? Is this not a hall mark of stupidity and stupendous attitude exhibited because of the kind of junk education most Cameroonians have received from our backward professional Police Schools? Does this not infringe on the fundamental privacies of citizens that the constitution stands to safeguard and protect? These Police officers, Gendarmerie officers as well pompous BIR battalion and Soldiers must be called to order before it's too late.
Freedom of information, freedom of assembly ,freedom of movement are fundamental human rights enshrined in the United Nations Charter and prefaced on the purported Constitution of Cameroon. All of these rights have been raped, tortured and shattered in the erstwhile Southern Cameroon and especially in the North West Region.
What justifications and what explanations can the state give for destroying satellite dishes from people's private homes because they are watching a particular channel which is purportedly outlawed in the Countr?.
This portrays to the civilized world that the people we fondly call police are empty in their skulls and can only mar the image of the nation through their primitive acts and mannerism.
