Suspected Boko Haram militants launched three attacks in northern Cameroon within 24 hours, including a thwarted suicide strike on a camp for people who have been displaced by the conflict, security sources said on Tuesday.
The Islamist militant group is based in northeastern Nigeria but regularly carries out raids in neighboring Cameroon, Chad and Niger, prompting the four countries plus Benin to create a 10,000-strong joint task force.
The frequency of the attacks has dropped in recent months, although more than 1,500 people have been killed in Cameroon by such attacks, International Crisis Group said in a report this month. Attacks were happening on an almost daily basis, but have dropped to between six and eight a month, it said.

President Paul Biya may want to begin to take a second look at the marginalization of anglophones .It seemed smart for him to have operated by divide and rule making the best of rivalries and enmities that existed amongst some Cameroonians from the North West and South West regions.
As a result there's a tendency for him to think that things can't get worse than a few uncoordinated protests here and there. But times are changing is what he may not be seeing.
Lawyers have taken to the streets. That's something that no right thinking government wants to brush under the carpet. English speaking Cameroonians from all walks of life are beginning to catch the strike fire as well.
If a strong leader were to emerge and take the forefront of these cries of 'Enough' Our president may wake up to an 'it's too late' reality.
English speaking Cameroonians are the better half of Cameroon in every sense of the expression.Without Anglophone Cameroonians , Cameroon loses her English French bilingual identity she shares with only Canada in the entire world .
Without the English speaking part of Cameroon, La republique loses the oil rich bakassi, and SONARA refinery as much as SNH and CSPH become meaningless and Biya's princely life style could be terribly affected.
La republique loses the pride of the Chariot of gods /Mount Cameroon , one of the world's highest peaks which sits majestically in Buea, Capital of the SW-region.
A quality English sub system of education which is by far superior to the French sub system will also be lost as part of the identity of la republique.La republique won't be able to beat her chest and claim the glory for the beautiful regalia of the North West as well.

Awah Cletus, the President of a local civil society organization based in the opposition stronghold of Bamenda, Cameroon, has endorsed a Ministerial meeting with a group of French-speaking Cameroonians to end the Anglophone strike against marginalization.
"This is the biggest betrayal of the 21 century," several Anglophone lawyers have alarmed. "It is unacceptable, illegal and massacre of justice for all English-speaking Cameroonians."
Mr. Awah was the only Anglophone to travel to the capital city of Yaounde to heed to the Ministers' call against a backlash by all Anglophone lawyers and teachers who called for a boycott.
"How much was he paid to sell out Anglophones," Meh Christain, a concerned Cameroonian asked on a phone while holding back tears.
A few days ago, I received a telephone call from Mr. Awah who revealed to me that he was invited to the Yaounde meeting. As honest as I could be, I suggested to Mr. Awah not to attend that meeting because he lacks the capacity to represent Anglophone lawyers and teachers.
I went on to advise Mr. Awah that such a meeting must be held with all relevant stakeholders including the major opposition parties and the United Nations in Cameroon. It must be a semblance of the 1961 plebiscite that was chaired by the United Nations.
I warned Mr. Awah that if he attends, the public will not be pleased with his action.
But seeing the attached documents with Mr. Awah's signature was a shock to me.
First, Mr. Awah did not even march on the streets with the lawyers. He was not tear gassed nor beaten. "It is a mockery to the efforts of lawyers fighting for the nation as a whole. It is a mockery for unity," some lawyers spoke to me on the telephone.

The Francophone organizers of the 10th edition of AWCON currently holding in Cameroon have systematically snubbed the inclusion of the Anglophone section of the country during the opening ceremony of the tournament held on November 19th, 2016 in Yaounde. Look at how the Northwest and South West have been cut off from other regions .
A group of children held hands in Cameroon-shape formation to create a map of Cameroon, with no single child standing in the Anglophone regions, instead a wall was created cutting of the area from the rest of the country. This comes at a time when the country seems divided over the issue of language segregation. It is over one month now since Common Law Lawyers launched an indefinite strike action calling among others for the translation of the OHADA Uniform Act and a return to Federalism in the country.
The lawyers are angry about the widespread use of the French language in the court system. The lawyers are refusing to work until the government acts to reduce the use of French in the courts.ameroon’s constitution says the two languages are equal, but many official documents and events are written or hosted only in French.
